We had a great Halloween party!  Thank you so much to our parents for planning such a great afternoon!  The kids had a great time!

A few classroom happenings -

Religion - Every Friday we learn about the weekly Gospel in our Promise Papers.  This week in our Religion book we finished up the chapter about God our Holy Father.

Phonics - We are continuing to learn about bonus letters.  We are going to start learning about glued sounds.  Our first glued sounds will be am, an, and all.

Math - Group one is working on greater than and less than, as well as partners of 10.  Group 2 is working on story problems and finding the missing partners.  They are figuring out if the story problem is adding or subtracting.

Science - We are learning about the water cycle.  We learned about precipitation, evaporation, and condensation.

Reading - We continue to work in groups and centers every day.

Handwriting - This week we worked on reviewing letters.  We are always working on forming the letters correctly and putting them in the correct spaces.

Writing - This week in writing our stories were about where you would like to go on a field trip.  We also wrote get well cards to our writing helper, Mrs. Kelly.  Mrs. Kelly was in the hospital last week and is still too weak to join us.  We're praying for her health and hope to see her next week!  In writing we always work on starting with a capital letter, only using capital letters where needed, using good spacing, using punctuation, writing neatly, spelling words correctly, and adding more details.

Spelling - Next week we will have our first spelling list.  The students will have a pre test on Monday.  The words come from our phonics unit.  If the student knows 0 - 8 words correctly on Monday, they will take the test on Friday using those phonetic words.  If the student knows 9 or 10 words correctly on Monday, they will take their test on sight words from the dolch list.  Pretests will be corrected Monday and weekly lists will go home to practice for the week.  More information will come with the first pre test on Monday.
