This week we will not have a spelling list due to the short week.

Phonics - We have been working on the glued sounds -ang, -ing, -ong, and -ung.  We worked on dictation in our student notebooks, sentence writing on white boards and sentence frames, and we used magnetic tile boards to make words with glued sounds.

Math - In math we worked on weighing using a balance.  We used a pencil, a crayon, an eraser, and a marker.  We used pennies on the other side to balance out the weight.  We counted how many pennies it took to balance each item.  We worked on doubles plus one and doubles minus one.  We learned about math mountains to make partners, switch partners, and fact families.  We used dice.  We rolled two dice and added them together to find the sum.  We made a bar graph of our totals.

Religion - In Religion we worked out of our book.  We learned about four types of prayer - asking, praise, sorry, and thanking.  Our Promise Paper also talked about the four types of prayer!  We read to stories out of our Children's Bible.  We read the story of The Prodigal Son and Jonah and the Whale.  We also watched short videos of both Bible stories.

Science - In science we talked about clouds.  We then made cloud pictures out of cotton balls.  We also read the story Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

Reading - We continue to have daily 5 and reading groups every day.  The students are busy working in their centers while I meet with guided reading groups and do sight word checks.  We also put together and read a story called Five Wild Turkeys.  We shared the book with our reading buddies.  This week I am going to start another round of running records.  I can't wait to see how much the students have grown already!  The students work so hard in daily 5!  Their writing has improved so much already this year!  It is great to see all their hard work!

Friday it was one of our volunteers, Ms. Mac's, birthday.  We had fun celebrating her.  The students made a book for her, danced a birthday Go Noodle with her, played a game with her, and made a birthday board for her.  It was a fun way to end Friday afternoon!

Reminder - Wednesday dismissal is at 11:30.

Happy Thanksgiving!
