Religion - The students in this class - wow! They often just ask to pray. Inspired by this, I've been wanting to create a prayer center. I made a few prayer books and found a few fill in the blank sheets for the Our Father and the Hail Mary. I made some write a prayer sheets. I bought a table and put our Children's Bibles and prayer books on it - as well as a few rosaries. Monday morning the kids walked in and saw that the prayer center was finally created! A few kids immediately went over, took the rosaries, and did a decade of the Hail Mary! It was amazing! The kids had an idea to put a basket at the table to place their written prayers in. Then they asked for rosary directions. We found some and added them to the center. Miles brought in a binder for the students to put their non-finished prayers in. Bennett came into our classroom on Friday and brought us a Mary statue. Our friend Macy has been in the hospital and so many of our friends went over to the prayer center to write prayers for her. This center is a work in progress - and it has been such a success so far! I am so proud of these kids!

Hands and Feet Turkeys - We made turkeys in our classroom out of our hands and feet! The students traced their feet on brown paper. Their feet are the turkey bodies. They traced their hands. Their hands are the feathers. They are adorable!
We also made thankful turkeys. The students wrote what they are thankful for on the turkey feathers.
Reading - Every day we have reading and daily 5. We will be reading a few turkey poems this week. The poems will then have activities in our word work center. This week the students will also be putting a turkey book together in word work. In reading each group works on stories at their level. We also practice our sight words, vowel teams, word families, nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
These boys were busy making words out of the letters in Thanksgiving!
Science - In science we are learning about weather. We did an experiment with fabric. We had to figure out which fabric was best to wear in rainy weather. The choices were cotton, cotton-polyester, wool, and nylon. First we made a prediction. Then we did our experiment. We put the fabric squares over a cup of water and poured the water over them. We found out cotton was the worst - it soaked up the water right away! The best fabric choice of the four? Nylon was the best.
Writing - We finished up our turkey stories with our fourth grade buddies! It was great to have buddies help us! The stories turned out awesome!
We also wrote about Holy Cross. Mrs. Gast asked each class to write about what they like about Holy Cross. Their writings turned out great!
Have a great week! :)
