Phonics - We have been learning about R-Controlled Vowels.  We like to call them Bossy R's.  An R-Controlled Vowel happens when you have a vowel followed by the letter r.

Math - In math last week we worked on placing pattern blocks into a shape.  We then graphed the pattern blocks that we used.

Science - Our newest PLTW unit is called Sun, Moon, and Stars.  So far we have been learning about the patterns of the sun.  One of the activities we did was build a sundial.  We are waiting for a sunny day this week to go outside and test them.

Reading - Every day we work in daily 5.  We work in reading groups and centers.  Our newest word work center is learning about compound words.

Religion - We finished up our Jesse Tree.  Deacon Darrell came for a visit.  He brought the monstrance with him.  He taught us about the symbols on the monstrance and adoration.

We celebrated Paul's birthday!

Working on our "How to Catch and Elf stories".  After we finished, 

we shared them with our kindergarten friends.

Working in math.  We were measuring things in the classroom with

 non-standard units.  We used cubes to measure.
