Reading - This week we will finally be able to get back to reading groups.  Our winter assessments are finally complete!  :)

Phonics - In phonics we have continued to work on the r-controlled vowels (bossy r) and digraph blends.  We also continue to add trick words.  We worked on dictation of sounds, words, and sentences.

Religion - We spent some time in Adoration last week.  The students are so good at sitting quietly at this special time.  They prayerfully give their intentions when we are at the monstrance.  We continue to work on this months virtues of magnificence and kindness.  In Friendzy we are working on "Teamwork makes the Dreamwork".

We are looking forward to all of the activities of Catholic Schools Week!

Writing - We are halfway finished with sharing our personal narratives with our kindergarten friends.  We hope to finish up this week.  Kindergarten is sharing their personal narratives with us too!

Celebrating Liam's Half Birthday

Getting ready for CSW

100th Day of School - Due to our day off last week, the 100th day of school will now be on Tuesday, February 3rd.  Remember your child can bring in their 100th day projects any time between now and the 100th day.  We can't wait to see their projects!

On the 100th day of school, your child may dress up if they would like to.  They may dress up like they are 100 years old.  If they have a special t shirt that shows 100 or 100 days of school they may wear something like that as well. Here are some ideas -

Have a great week!

Spelling - We will not have a spelling list this week.

Reading - We continue to work on our winter assessments - STAR math and reading, CBMs, Heggerty, running records, and sight words.  Our word work focus is compound words.

Phonics - In phonics we continued to work on words with blends.  We also learned about words that have a digraph plus a consonant.  They are called a digraph blend.  Example - lunch (l-u-n-ch).  We have also been introduced to r-controlled vowels - ar, or, er, ir, ur.

Math - In math we are learning about comparing problems.  We are learning how to find out how many more or fewer.  This week we will also take our STAR math assessment on Tuesday.

Science - We made our sundials and we had one sunny day where we were able to go outside and test them.  We also learned about how the amount of daylight changes throughout the year.

Writing - We are finishing up our personal narratives.  We were able to share with our class.  This coming week we will share with our kindergarten friends.

Religion - We finished up "You First" in Friendzy.  In our Promise Books we discussed the sign of the cross, parts of the mass, and our church family.  We continue to work on the virtues and values of magnificence and kindness.

4th Grade Buddies

Grayson finally got this tooth out!  :)

On Friday, the first grade theme will be sports! Come dressed in a Packer jersey
Brewers t shirt, something from a sport your child plays, etc.

*100th Day of School* - The 100th day of school is on Monday, February 2nd.  The students will again be making 100th day projects at home.  They can bring in their 100th day projects any time until the 100th day.  We will display their projects in the hallway.  Be creative and have fun!

Have a great week!
