We had a great day at Osprey Point today!  The weather held off beautifully!

We took a nature hike on the beautiful trails.  We had a nature scavenger hunt while we were hiking.  We saw some things like different color leaves, animal tracks, animal holes, some insects, and wild flowers.  We hiked to the osprey nest.  It's very high up on a pole.  We learned that the osprey's wingspan is 6 feet.  When we came to a clearing we sat in a circle.  We listened to a beautiful prayer about nature and creation.  Then we sat silently for a few minutes, paying attention to our senses.  We thought about what we could see, hear, smell, and feel.  Then we discussed what we saw, heard, smelled, and felt, as well as drew pictures.  Next we read a story called Leaf Man by Wisconsin author Lois Ehlert.  After the story we collected leaves and did some leaf rubbings.  We also collected leaves to bring back to school so we can make our own leaf man creations.  It was a great morning.

Thank you to Clare's mom, Mrs. Schueller, for coming with us.  Here are a few pictures she took today. -
