Reading - The students are working so hard in daily 5 centers and guided reading groups!  We have four reading groups.  I typically get through three reading groups a day.  When the students are not meeting with me, they are in the daily 5 centers.  Daily 5 is one of our favorite times of the day!

There are so many work on writing choices!

Phonics - We finished up our chapter about digraphs.  We are now learning about bonus letters.  Bonus letters are words that have
1.  one syllable
2.  on vowel
3.  short vowel sound
4.  the word ends with the letters f, l, or s
If all the criteria it met, you double the f, l, or s at the end of the word.  (usually)  Some examples of bonus letter words are mass, puff, and chill.

Writing - Our latest writing assignment asked us to write about our favorite season.  When writing we are working on only using capital letters where necessary, using good spacing, using punctuation, and putting letters where they belong on the lines.

Religion - Brother Jacob took us on a tour of our church.  We will be continuing the tour this week.

In our Promise Paper we read the story of the mustard seed.  We decided to plant our own mustard seeds in our classroom.

Science - This week we learned about inside temperature vs. outside temperature.  We started looking at the temperature every day and now we are making a temperature graph each morning.

Math -  We continue to practice working on doubles.  We are working on story problems and deciding if the problem is adding or subtracting and then writing out the equation.  We have been learning about more shapes.  We learned the names of the pattern blocks and the we used the pattern blocks to make creations.

Wake Up Work - Vincent has been working with these wooden blocks.  Every day he asks me to take his picture.  Some days he does it by himself and some days he builds with friends.  Here are some of the creations. :)

Have a great week!  :)
