Phonics - In phonics we are working on 2 syllable words with both a closed syllable and a v-e syllable.  We are learning where we break apart the syllables.  We continue to gain more trick words.  We have been doing a lot of dictation.

Religion - We have been very busy practicing for our mass!  The students did a great job!  We have been focusing on Lent. This last week we learned about Holy Week.  We finished our last Brother Francis Lent video.  We continue to focus on the virtues and values of temperance and moderation.  We also finished up our Lent journals.  Our final entry was to write and draw about how you think God sees you.

Writing - We worked on our first acrostic poems.  The word we chose was spring.

Science - In animal adaptations we continue to learn about four environments and plants and animals that live in those environments.  The environments are the arctic, the desert, the rainforest, and the savanna.

Reading - The students continue to work in centers and we meet in reading groups.  Our word work focus is homophones.  (Words that sound alike, but are spelled different and mean something different.)

Our Flat Stanleys are starting to return from their adventures!

Have a great week!
