Yesterday we learned our new name!  Father Allouez Catholic School!  Each grade had to make up cheers for our school.  Here are the first and second grade cheers.

A few updates -

First grade math - We are working on story problems, story problems, story problems!  We are also continuing to learn how to play cribbage.

First grade phonics - We are now learning two syllable words. We learned about each syllable being closed, and one syllable being closed and one syllable being vowel-consonant-e.  We are also learning how to break words into syllables.

Reading - We are working on homophones.  The kids are doing awesome in centers!

Writing - These kids are rocking poetry!  This week we learned about diamante poems. When they are finished I'll snap a picture to share with you.  I am blown away!

Science - This week we took our plants home.  The kids loved watching them grow.  Today we will be adding guppies and snails to our aquariums.

Religion - Today we had a special guest speaker.  He's a parishioner named Tom Wall.  He has written children's book about our Catholic faith.  Here are a few pictures of his visit.
