Reading - We work in our reading groups while the class is working in daily 5 centers.  We switched to our Thanksgiving themed centers for word work.  The students are loving the making words center - they make words out of the letters in Thanksgiving.  Another favorite is the poem center.  The students read the poem and read the words on note cards.  They put the words on the note cards in the correct order.  Soon we'll be starting sight word checks and another round of running records for the end of the trimester.

Religion - We have been working out of our book.  We learned about Moses.  We learned three stories about Moses - the burning bush, the parting of the sea, and the ten commandments.  Our Promise Paper and Gospel story was about heaven this last week.  On Friday we went to Adoration.

Science - We did an experiment with puddles.  We put water in a bowl.  We kept track of it every day to see how long it took to evaporate.  It took four days for our puddle to evaporate.  We learned about clouds.  We learned about three types - cumulus, stratus, and cirrus.

Math - We worked on adding 0 and we continued to work on the counting on strategy.  We also worked on some Thanksgiving fun math.  :)

Phonics - We are continuing to work on the suffix s.  This week we are learning about the difference between a suffix s plural word and a suffix s action word.  (verb)

Here are some fun creations from the week

We made hands and feet turkeys!  We traced our feet to make the body and we traced our hands to make the feathers.

Mrs. Pederson, Vincent's mom, came into our classroom yesterday to share with us some social thinking.  We have been learning about the zones of regulation, the expected and unexpected behaviors, and other strategies.  Mrs. Pederson introduced us to the thinkables and unthinkables and some superflex thinking.  :)  The characters we learned about yesterday were Rock Brain and Rex Flexinator.

Rock Brain gets us stuck on our own plan.  Rex Flexinator helps us think of ways to defeat Rock Brain!  We did this lesson yesterday with our kindergarten friends.  Today we met with kindergarten again and went over all sorts of strategies.  We had a great discussion!  Today I'll send home some information about these characters.
