Reading - Our word work center is synonyms - Words that have the same meaning.  (small and little, rock and stone, etc.)  We are also loving making words out of the letters in valentine!  We finished another round of running records last week.  This week we are back at working in our guided reading groups.

Phonics - We are working on vowel teams ai and ay, ee, ea, and ey, and oi and oy.  The students are also continuing to work on closed syllable words.

Math - In math we have been working on adding 2, comparing and ordering objects by length, measuring with non-standard units (cubes) and with rulers (inches), writing number words, and using pattern blocks to cover a design and graph that.  

Science - In our science kit, we finished up the solids and we are starting to work with the liquids.  We compared water and glue, observed the four liquids (water, glue, green shampoo, vegetable oil) with our senses, put the liquids on wax paper and observed, put the liquids in baggies and observed, and spent some time learning about which liquids are slow and fast (viscous and fluid).  The properties we have been working on so far are color, transparent or opaque, and viscosity and fluidity.

Religion - This week we are preparing for our Mass on Friday.  :)

We recently celebrated two birthdays in our classroom!
