Phonics - We are making our way through the glued sounds.  

First we learned all, am, and an.  Next we learned ank, ink, onk, and onk.  Then we learned ang, ing, ong, and ung.  This week we will be focusing on the glued sounds that end with ng/nk and adding 

suffix s.

Writing - We are hoping to finish up the last of the personal narratives this week.  We have also written our letters to Santa, finished out our November journals, and worked on our handwriting pages.

Religion - We are focusing on Advent.  Each day we read a Bible story and add to our Jesse Tree.  We have been learning about Saints in December - Mary, Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Saint Lucy.  The virtues and values we are learning about are generosity and responsibility.

Social Studies - We worked on learning about  - cities, states, countries, continents, and our planet.  We made a project called "Me on the Map". We made a waterfall book.  We went from smallest to largest - me, my school, my city, my state, my country, and my planet.  The students love to look at the U.S. map and talk about different states.  We are learning the words to the "Fifty Nifty".

Math - We have worked on dividing shapes in half and simple fractions, counting with dimes and pennies, -2 and +2 facts, tally marks, part-part-whole, and finding the missing addend.  

Reading - We continue to work hard every day in our reading groups and centers!
