Spelling - We will not have a spelling list this week.  

Phonics - We continue to work on 2 syllable words that have a closed syllable and a v-e syllable.

Writing - Last week we worked on Mother's Day writing!  I hope you loved all of the waterfall books, mom fill in the blank sheets, cards, pictures, and flowers!

Science - We are working on a new PLTW unit called Designs Inspired by Nature.  We have read the introduction story and done Activity 1 - Parents and their offspring.  We looked at animals and discussed how the offspring is similar and different from their parents as a group.  We took notes on a venn diagram.  Next partners were given different animals and they had to come up with ways the parents and offspring were similar and different.  Then we played a game where we had to match the parent to the offspring.

Reading - We continue to meet in reading groups and work in literacy centers.  Our current word work focus is homophones.

Religion - Last week we had our last Promise Paper of the year.  We will spend more time in our Friendzy books now to finish the year.  We continue to read stories out of our Children's Bible.  Our final virtues and values for the year are loyalty and modesty.  Our final BOLT trait is service.

Last week we had a visit from the Spudmobile!  It was a great way to learn about Wisconsin potatoes!  Today we dug up our potato plant and find out if we grew any potatoes.  We grew 3 tiny potatoes.
