Spelling - We will not have a spelling list this week.
Phonics - We added our last set of vowel teams - aw and au.
Religion - Our Promise Paper was about kindness. We reviewed the Golden Rule - Treat others the way you want to be treated. It fit in perfect with Abbot Gary's homily on Friday where he told us, "If you want to have a friend, you have to be a friend." Melina won the BOLT award for the month of February - the virtues were Meekness and Charity.
Writing - We have started the writing stage of our How To stories. Some of the stories we are writing about are how to ice skate, how to make a cake, and how to tie shoes.
Science - In our PLTW unit animal adaptations we have been learning about the four types of adaptations - camouflage, protection, food, and locomotion. We discovered animals that use each type of adaptation.
Math - In math we have been working on place value. Mostly ones and tens, but we also had a lesson where we learned about hundreds and thousands! We are working on adding two digit numbers with regrouping.
Reading - Last week we finished another round of running records and sight word checks. We continue to practice reading through reading groups and centers in daily 5.
4th Grade Buddies - This week in buddies we played math games. We practiced place value with base ten blocks.
