Spelling - We continue to work on suffix s.  We will not have a spelling list this week.

Phonics - In phonics we continue to work on the suffix s.  Our first round of words were words that were plural.  By the end of the week, we will be working on suffix s words that are action words.

Reading - We continue to work in our reading groups and centers.  This week we will also start another round of running records.

Science - In our PLTW unit Light and Sound we have been working on the final step - the problem.  The challenge we were given was to make a communication device that uses either light, sound, or both.  The students learned about the design process and had to work through the design process to create their devices.  This week we will test our devices and share them.

Adopt-A-Cow - We had fun with the Adopt-A-Cow election!  Unfortunately Sassy didn't win the cow care package...we still think she's the cutest though!  We had fun learning that Sassy is from Kewaunee, Wi. - only 23 miles away from Holy Cross!  One of the activities that we did was find Kewaunee on a map of Wisconsin.  After we had the picture of Wisconsin, a student asked if they could have a map of the whole United States.  Then - everyone was very interested in what the United States looks like, where Wisconsin is, and where other states are that they have been to or heard of.

Religion - We finished up our lesson on the seven sacraments.  We learned a lot about the sacrament of Baptism.  The new school virtue for the month of November is Piety.  We will also focus on the virtues and values cards of prayerfulness and gratitude. In Friendzy we are working on "Love at all Times".

Writing - We finished our journals and started our personal narrative unit.  A personal narrative is a true story about something that happened to you.  So far we have worked through the steps of research and planning.
