Phonics - We continued working on 2 syllable words with suffixes s, ed, and ing. This week we will be learning about when to use the -es suffix. The -es suffix is used usually when a word ends with ch, sh, s, x, and z.
Writing - We have finished up our how-to stories. We were able to share them with kindergarten. The how-to stories were challenging. The students needed to write about how to do something. They needed to write the materials used. They needed to have at least four steps. They needed to use transition words such as first, second, next, then, and finally. They needed to draw detailed illustrations to go along with their stories. They needed to use punctuation and capitalization correctly. It was awesome watching these stories come together!
Math - In math we worked on putting 2D shapes together to make new shapes. We practiced a lot with pattern blocks.
Science - We finished up our posters. We had help from our fourth grade buddies. The posters had a specific environment. (African Savanna, Arctic, Amazon Rainforest, Sahara Desert). The students had to be a traveler. The traveler needed to use one of each adaptation in their environment. (food, camouflage, protection, locomotion)
Religion - We are working on a Friendzy unit called "Watch My Words". We learned about an acrostic poem titled THINK.
T= Is it True?
H=Is it Helpful
I=Is is Inspiring?
N=Is it Necessary?
