Spelling - We will not have a spelling list this week.  We are still working on 2 syllable words with a closed syllable and a v-e syllable in phonics.

Phonics - We continue to work on 2 syllable words with a closed syllable and a v-e syllable.

Reading - Our word work focus is homophone words.  Homophones are words that sound alike, but they are spelled different and mean different things.  (ex. rows, rose)  We continue to read in our guided reading groups and work in the daily 5 centers.  The students have also been practicing their typing as a center choice during daily 5.

Writing - We continue to work in our April journals and on our writer's workshop stories.

Math - We worked on making and reading bar graphs, identifying 3D shapes cubes and cylinders, identifying fractions, and math facts.

Social Studies - We have now learned 24 states and capitals, as well as facts about those states.

Science - This week we learned about 2 more organisms - pond snails and guppies.  We learned facts about each organism, compared and contrasted the two, and added the organisms to our aquariums.  Our seeds continue to grow!

Religion - We worked on our Promise Paper.  It was a fun one!  There was a word search and we had to find a hidden message.  We are continuing to work on the virtue of humility.  We continued reading our safe environment story.  Every Wednesday we have a visit from Brother Jacob.

We celebrated Mrs. Boudwin on Secretary's Day!  We made a book for her.  :)
